After defining the acid jazz scene of the 2000s, the legendary group—whose name was bestowed by Gilles Peterson himself—made a triumphant return in 2022, sparking widespread excitement. Led by Japanese producer and DJ Shuya Okino, who founded the project with his brother Yoshi, and joined by British vocalist Vanessa Freeman, KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE delivers a vibrant blend of electro, jazz-funk, house, broken beat, and Afrobeat. To celebrate 30 years of music, KJM embarked on a European tour in collaboration with the Paris-based funk ensemble Echoes of a New Dawn Orchestra. Their performance at Next Step during this 42nd edition promises to be one of those unforgettable concerts etched in memory.
